The way stuff is made causes a lot of waste and pollution.
We don't like to work this way!
-
Fortunately there is the Cradle to Cradle® principle.
This means:
100% reusable materials
100% renewable energy
100% social production
We work by this principle.
-
100% eco sheep
Our sleeves start with the wool of Merino sheep that were once exclusively reserved for the Spanish Kings. They are bred in a natural environment, using ethical farming practices without the use of pesticides.
-
100% toxic free wool felt
To remove impurities the wool is washed in recycled water with biological soap. The pure wool is converted into felt by a process of rubbing and heating. This process is fully mechanical and thus without the use of chemicals.
-
100% toxic free dye
The wool felt is dyed using a toxin-free, biodegradable synthetic dye. The dye is tested for harmful substances according to Öko-Tex class I standard and is currently being tested by MBDC in order to obtain offical C2C certification.
-
100% toxic free thread
The thread used to sew together the felt is made out of fully ecologically grown cotton certified according to the GOTS standard. The dyes for the thread are also certified according to Öko-Tex class I standard.
-
0% extra material logo
To avoid unnecessary use of materials for the label, the logo is stamped into the felt. The logo will slowly fade, just as the sleeve will eventually dissolve into nature.
-
100% sustainable packaging
Our new packaging is lasered instead of printed, because most inks are not ecological and the ones that are hamper the recycling of paper. The cardboard of the packaging is FSC certified.
-
100% social production
The sleeves are sewn together in a small workshop in Amsterdam that provides employment to people with a handicap. This way reWrap also helps people with a handicap to develop themselves.
-
100% local production
We produce our sleeves locally. The felt is made in West-Europe and the sleeves are put together in the Netherlands. This is not only good for the local economy, but it also means less transport and therefore less pollution.
-
100% climate neutral
Because we can't further reduce the energy consumed for transport and manufacturing, we purchase carbon credits in a project in Thailand to compensate our carbon emissions. Therefore our sleeves have a 0% footprint
-
100% biodegradable,
0% waste
The result is a fully biodegradable sleeve. After use it will turn into compost rather than waste. The compost can then be used as nutrient for nature and the meadows of our sheep. There is no waste and the cycle is completed.
